WHY RAISE FUNDS? WHERE DO THEY GO?

FUNDRAISING

WHY IS OVF FUNDRAISING?

The original concept of Oundle Vintage Festival was centred around fundraising, being originally set up as a one-off event to raise money to fix the Town Clock on St Peter’s Church in 2019. This was a huge success and raised £10,000 to donate to the clock fund, and the clock was duly fixed and re-furbished.

With the aim now to run OVF on a regular basis, the Committee hope to invest more into the running of the Festival to make it a better event, but importantly to still distribute funds raised through profits and donations to local improvement projects for the benefit of the town and townsfolk. As a non-ticketed event with a not inconsiderable overhead, revenue and fund-raising avenues are limited but the committee is committed to passing ‘festival profits’ to local good causes, as well as all receipts from specific fundraising elements such as money collected in donation buckets.

HOW ARE FUNDS DISTRIBUTED?

Oundle Vintage Festival (OVF) has teamed up with Oundle Town Council (OTC) who have operated a long standing Community Support Fund. The aim is to bolster the limited pot of money so that more grants can be provided to local groups and good causes that will benefit the town and community. OVF will pass funds after each vintage festival to OTC who’s Finance and General Purpose Committee will take responsibility for processing applications and deciding on awards based on a set criteria.

HOW DO YOU APPLY?

Applications are considered at Oundle Town Council’s monthly Finance and General Purpose Committee meetings. Applications for grant funding are invited from local groups, charitable organisations or individuals in the fields of: Community Support, Arts and Sports. The aim is to provide financial assistance to local groups or charitable organisations within the parish of Oundle although applications from individuals may also be considered. N.B. Political and religious groups do not qualify.

The full criteria is set our in the Grant Policy Document which can be downloaded from OTC’s website, however these are some of the key points when applications are considered:

  • Does the application deliver a benefit to the residents of Oundle
  • Does the application positively promote Oundle
  • Preference given to projects that benefit the most amount of people
  • Preference given to projects covering a diverse number of people
  • Wider access to the arts or to sports are considered more favourably

To review the full criteria and download an application form visit the Oundle Town Council website.

OVF's OBJECTIVES

AIMS

The Vintage Festival Organising Committee was set up by, and is now coordinated by representatives from Oundle Business Association.

There are various aims. The first is to create a ‘town event’ that attracts footfall to Oundle in order to highlight Oundle as a visitor destination and encourage local trade. Also (and not to be forgotten) we aim to provide local residents with a major local event to look forward to, take part in and enjoy. At the same time, the Festival will re-invest some of the receipts into improving the event and after this hold the remaining festival profits in a fund that can be applied to by groups who have local projects that can be demonstrated to improve the town for all.
